Many people find it challenging to practice speaking German regularly if they have English-speaking jobs, and thus they don’t get the chance to actually learn the language. For this sake, we arranged a list of ideas to inspire people of ways to help them practice the language.
- Speak with elder neighbors as they are often looking for people to entertain with.
- Suggest to have German-only days at work, if all your colleagues are comfortable with it.
- Volunteer to mentor children with kein-abseits.
- Volunteer with Caritas or Refugio Berlin.
- Attend Sprachcafés meetings. Each district arranges some, for example.
- Find a tandem partner.
- Join a Sportverein.
- Refugio Berlin runs a German Language Cafe from 5.30pm to 7.30pm every Wednesday.
- Join a course that interests you (e.g. cooking) at a Volkhochschule.
